These three commissioned pieces were created to bring the natural light and beauty of the desert foothills nearby into the living area. After painting the glass cylinders with luster paints, I applied glass gems that were individually cut and placed on the form. After drying, I "painted" the pieces again by grouting each piece in different colored grouts. The cut pieces draw light into the piece, showing off the underpainting, as well as illuminating beautifully when lit at night by candles or wireless LED lights.

Each one of these Mosaic Light Vessels is a unique artwork. With each one, I take great delight in playing with the shape and light cast by each glass piece, often turning the pieces "on end" resulting in some dramatic effects. When lit using a tealight or other small candle, they create a stunning fire-like glow that fills a room with warmth. Also makes an interesting vase for flower arranging.
